Caitlin Beavers graduated from Casa Grande High School in Petaluma, CA. She is majoring in business with an emphasis on accounting. She plans on seeking a Masters in Accounting. |

Rebecca Harris is our graduating chapter scholarship recipient. Rebecca graduated with honors from Clovis West High School in Fresno before moving to Fair Oaks, California. She attended American River Community College her freshman year in order to dance professionally in a respected Sacramento ballet troupe. She chose to transfer to the University of Arkansas after considering the University of Oregon and the University of Washington. Rebecca majored in business at the prestigious Sam M. Walton College of Business. She also pursued a minor in dance and theater. Rebecca was co-captain of the Razorback Pom Squad and was very active in her sorority - Kappa Delta. She is currently working for Wal-Mart.com. We are proud to have her represent our organization as a chapter scholar!! She is shown here with Ernie Wong, our scholarship chairman. |

Tiffany Knight, graduated from Petaluma High School (Northern California) with honors before enrolling at the University of Arkansas sight unseen. She graduated, Cum Laude, in May of 1999 posting a perfect 4.0 grade point average - one of only 14 to do so from the entire University. Tiffany was named the outstanding English Department graduate and was recognized by Chancellor John White at the Class of 1999 graduation ceremony. Tiffany earned her Masters in English at the University of Tennessee and is now pursuing her doctorate at the University of Southern California. Tiffany is special and we wish her future success. |

Andrew Butt, our first scholarship recipient, graduated from high school in the Bay Area before enrolling at the University of Arkansas. Andrew graduated with distinction from the College of Architecture earning his Bachelor of Architecture degree in December of 1997. He works now with the respected architectural firm of Interactive Resources, located in Point Richmond, California. |

Special Chapter Project - Daniel Kirk Gabor As a result of the past success our Chapter has enjoyed, this year the San Francisco Chapter took on a new and special fundraising endeavor.
Because our own Chapter Scholarship was secure for the present, our Chapter Board of Directors made a commitment to helping Ann Gabor raise $5,000 in additional funding to ensure Dan's scholarship would be fully self-sustaining. This one-time, special project fundraising endeavor was something new for our Chapter, but our members responded most generously, far surpassing our initial goal. On May 21, 2000, a gift of $7,000 was presented to Ann Gabor. Congratulations and deepest thanks to our Chapter Members for their outstanding effort on this project.
This plaque, which hangs on the front entrance to the new Razorback Track complex, is testament to the life of Dan and gifts he brought to the University of Arkansas as scholar, athlete and friend. Scholarships for Children of University of Arkansas Graduates The university is now offering tuitions and grants to children of Arkansas graduates. Please follow this link to find out more about the Alumni Legacy Scholarship and the Alumni Legacy Tuition Reduction Grant. Feel free to contact any chapter officer if you know of any solid scholastic candidates from a Northern California high school or junior college who may be interested in attending the University of Arkansas. A spirited recruitment effort will be organized and your active participation welcomed. |
In 1996, TWA Flight 800 crashed into the ocean
off the coast of Long Island. Among those who lost their lives was Daniel Kirk
Gabor - a Bay Area native and a University of Arkansas All-American. In the wake
of this tragedy, his mother Ann, who still resides in Pleasanton,
single-handedly raised almost $18,000 to fund a geology field-study scholarship
in his name.
